My story on beating anxiety

Having anxiety is a tough battle, and dealing with it can be a daily struggle. Or at least it can feel like that..

Luckily you’re in control of your anxiety and you have the power to overcome it. I’m an example of that.

I’ve been dealing with anxiety for more than a year, and are still experiencing anxiety.

The differrence from the start is that, i’m am now in control of it, because i made a desicion to be in control and believe that i can beat anxiety, even though it might seem impossible.

This didn’t happen overnight of course. Beating anxiety is a marathon for most people, not a sprint. And that’s okay. It’s just like when you have broken bone, and you need to take care of it in order for it to heal.

The same goes for mental health. You need to take care of your mind, and implement healthy life-choices making your battle a lot easier.

What have i done so far (5 tips)?

1. Seeking professional help:

This was by far the toughest thing i’ve done, as i never portrayed myself as a individual, which would ever need help from a therapist.  However, it’s the best desicion i’ve ever made.

It’s important to understand, that it is nessecary for us to talk with other people about our problems. Seeking professional help can give you the right tools to deal with anxiety.

Whether it’s money, your self-image or denial, which is holding you back from booking your first appointment, i can tell you it’s worth booking it.

Do some research on, which kind of therapy that would suit your needs.

2. Stay true to your goals

Dealing with anxiety can feel invalidating. The important thing is, that you can go on with your life and pursue your goals, even though, it might feel impossible, while having anxiety.

The thing i’m the most proud of, throughout my whole journey dealing with and beating anxiety, is that i’ve never let it steer me away from my goals.

I’ve always kept going towards what i want to achieve, even though, in periods, it have been feeling like the most uncomfortable thing on earth, because of the anxiety.

The most important thing is to prove to yourself, that you steer the ship, and you decide the direction, even with some storms along the way.

If it helps you, start out with some smaller goals, and achieve them.

3. Sleep for god sake.

Yes, now i sound like all the other health sites on the internet. It’s simply just, beause it can’t be denied, sleep does help on everything.

Having a good night’s sleep have always helped me out to deal with anxiety.

Get into a good rhytm of sleeping, this also involves the weekends. A combination of a good sleeping rhytm combined with routines is the best thing you can do for yourself. Go to bed the same time everyday, get up the same time everyday.

This is hard, especially if you are just getting started or didn’t stay true to your rhytm, because of whatever reason.

However, it has helped me significantly, even though i also struggle with my sleeping routines sometimes.

4. Limit caffeine, or drop it completely.

It hurts me to write this, as a coffee lover and it’s almost a crime having an italian girlfriend on top of that.

Nevertheless, coffee doesn’t help me in the proces of beating anxiety.

Therefore i’ve chosen to limit my caffeine intake, or completely cut it out in periods. This helps my sleeping rhytm, and general well-being.

It might even be a lot easier for you, than it was for me, because i was a heavy caffeine drinker.

5. Excersice

Get the small wins. Going to the gym or taking a run can be a one of your daily victories. A  healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Proof to yourself, that you work out, because it’s hard to do, but you do it anyway.

It’s important to take care of your body, it makes it easier to deal with anxiety, and on  top of that it’s a easy way to show yourself, that you steer the ship captain.
